Reorganization, package adjustments, and summer specials!

Please forgive the chaos that will be happening with our “portfolio” and “pricing” page. We are working on new packages that we feel will better suit the needs of our clients. We will also update our portfolio layout that will showcase  the kinds of images we strive to create and will show the true spirit of our work. We will also be updating with a few summer specials that will begin in June and go through August. There will be complimentary sessions and half off regular sessions. More details coming soon.

Alec’s Newborn Session

Eeeee!!!!!!! I have been waiting for this session for a very long time (9 months to be exact :P ). I photographed Treisha’s maternity session back in March and the photos were so beautiful I could not wait to meet little Alec. I must say this was one of the hardest sessions I have ever shot. Newborns are very hard to photograph unless they are asleep lol. New parents Axel and Treisha were a little nervous about these photos because Alec cried in between shots and was very squirmy. I loved seeing how concerned they were about their new baby’s well-being. They are going to be such wonderful parents!

Alec took two meal breaks during our photos. Then we moved from their bedroom, to the front yard, to his crib and back to the front yard trying to find the best light source and most comfortable place for Alec. We really wanted to get photos of Alec’s little newborn body but we soon discovered he does not like having his clothes off lol.

I will be shooting Alec’s 3 month session, 6 month session, and 1 year portraits. Expect to see his cute little face often :) . I leave you with my favorite photos from our session.

Cam & Patrick’s Engagement Session in Huntington Beach

cp-blog6

I love couples!!!!! My Jiu-Jitsu instructor Kevin and his wife Haley referred Cam and Patrick to us. It was no surprise then that Cam and Patrick were so wonderful and fun. I especially enjoy couples who are so obviously in love and happy that it is impossible not to know they are meant to be together forever; always laughing and feeding off each other. Cam and Patrick were the embodiment of that kind of relationship. They were such a fun couple to photograph and extremely photogenic. Cam is originally from Northern California and Patrick is from Huntington Beach. They got engaged during the holidays last year and are planning an August wedding. The couple opted to take their engagement photos at Central Park in Huntington Beach. I was a little skeptical because I had never been there and I had a certain kind of park in mind for this session (read: “woodsy”, proper word: wooded). Bob and I arrived a little early and soon discovered the park was just the way I wanted it to be AND they had a cafe right on the park. We had a tuna salad and Monte Cristo sandwich for lunch and it was yummy ;) . Soon after lunch Cam and Patrick arrived with PROPS. Cam told me that she had a lot of fun creating the props for the day and I was shocked to know that the wonderful pieces only took her a couple days to make (or less!). We had such a great time shooting with them: Cam is so lively and cheerful, it is obvious to see why Patrick loves her so. Patrick was her perfect match and you could tell by his calm and agreeable demeanor and in the way he interacted with her :) .

Treisha’s Maternity Session

Treisha's Maternity Session

I had been waiting to shoot this maternity session for the last 7 months! Baby Andrew Alec is finally close to his due date that taking the photos made sense. It was such a fun session for me. I really love shooting maternity because the moms-to-be are always glowing and so beautiful! Treisha is absolutely stunning. She was such a pleasure to work with and was so accommodating to my requests. She was also very patient in letting me try every shot numerous times until I got exactly what I wanted. I could not be happier with the results. I am eagerly awaiting my nephew’s arrival and will definitely be taking newborn photos. Yay!

Bob’s “Just Because” Photo Session

Wow! Every time I photograph Bob I am blown away. Look at his face! It just doesn’t get more handsome than that :P . I love to take photos of Bob because I get to try new things with my camera and take as long as I want to get it done. The fact that he is beyond photogenic is an added bonus. I found this neat little park in Redondo Beach that looked very promising. We scouted it out as a future location to use with clients and got some awesome photos in the process.

Belated “engagement” photos

I planned this session with my cousin with only a couple days in advance. She was going to celebrate her 10 year wedding anniversary in Vegas and since it is only a 4-hr drive from us we decided to meet her and her husband there for a day. Unfortunately we did not arrive as early as we would have liked and my usual outdoor photography with natural lighting ended up not happening :( . We did go into Crystals which is a fairly well-lit mall and snapped some photos in there. Our photo session did not go much past 20 minutes since we had drinks in hand and it was mostly impromptu but I did get some photos I really loved. When they got married 10 years ago they never did an engagement session so we tried to recreate one!

The style is a little different and not as bright as my usual work but I tried something new and I like the results. Hopefully Angie does as well! :)

One-Day Big Bear Trip!

Pretty Lake

Planning has never been my mother’s strong suit. That is why we got a half-day notice to get ready to go to big bear for a day. Although we had no activities planned and were ill-equipped for the snow we had a good time :) . I LOVE taking photos in the snow. The light is just so beautiful. Maybe next year I’ll plan on doing some shoots in Big Bear during the winter.

We stayed in a cabin rental and spent some time with my family and my brother’s girlfriend’s family. We played speed (my favorite card game!) and I annihilated everyone ;-) . The next morning dad made us some breakfast and we walked around in the snow. Simply walking in the snow was fine for us. My family had never been in the snow like that before. Why did we not know about Big bear sooner?! We ended the day with tubing down a little hill. I was too cold in my jeans (and afraid of the height) to try it, but Gizzo, Alan, and Axel had a great time. Hazel on the other hand was freezing her a** off lol.

P.S. We did not come across the killer guy.

Isn’t she the cutest?!!!

Giselle’s “Just Because” Session

Giselle V

I think the last time I did a photoshoot of my little sister was about 3 years ago? As I’ve mentioned before, this portrait session was long overdue. I had a boudoir session planned yesterday but due to lack of pleasant sunny weather it had to be postponed. Never fear, Giselle is here! I am so glad I was able to get this session in while I was visiting her in San Bernardino. We drove along a road, saw a little clump of dead looking trees in an empty field and thought, “perfect!”. Wearing sandals in this location was not fun at all but the colors were amazing with her orange top. The pain was worth it.

Christmas 2012

It’s already 2013 but I am just now getting around to posting Christmas photos :) . We ate too much food, had some wine, some tequila, danced a little, sang some karaoke, and opened gifts at midnight.

Here are a few of my favorite images from the night.

Angela L. Beauty & Lifestyle Session

ang

Finally! I have been wanting to update the blog with this shoot for a couple weeks now. I do not think there was a single picture form this shoot that I did not love. Angela is fantastic in front of the camera! She’s got the most beautiful skin and hair it was hard not to get great photos. Angela is an aspiring model and needed some new photos to add to her portfolio. We took these photos on the strip in Hermosa Beach, working with different walls, back alleys, and doors as backdrops. She was so open to my crazy ideas for locations :-) .

Here are some favorites from her session:

What a beautiful face!!!

So glad she agreed to pose with this background!
